We loved our stay in Azanzi hotel in Zanzibar. Our room was astonishing, the service was great and the food delicious. It was a perfect place to rest & relax after safari while staying in the honeymoon vibe.

Zanzibar Retreats was very helpful in booking and providing information. It would be great, however, if in the future you could make clear that paying the full price upfront is common practice. This is uncommon in Europe, which is why in the beginning I was a bit in doubt whether to trust this. It all turned out well and we thank you too for your service and great help!

We returned last week and we had a wonderful time indeed! Azanzi was stunning... just very windy (which if you live in Cape Town is the last you want on your holiday!) but it was not necessarily a negative thing because it was still very hot! We went diving one day and this was all very well organized by the diving club at the hotel. A great experience!

Our room was stunning, and very big... so it was perfect for 3 people. The food was great but sometimes a bit boring as we expected a bit more variety in fresh fruits at breakfast or fish at the dinner buffet.

And last thing, it’s a pity the pool is completely covered. On the pictures it looks like its half/half but it’s completely covered and never gets any sun which makes it cold to swim in. And because you got the tides all the time, and the corals, it isn't so easy to swim in the sea either.

Hope I am not sounding too negative because these were all just minor things and they sure didn’t spoil our holiday, because we had a great time! Thanks for all your help in helping us book, I know that I will defenitely go back to Zanzibar soon.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at Kisiwa House and the
Z Hotel. Both lived up to expectations from the websites and descriptions (and trip advisor ratings). The quality of the food was exceptional at Z (we only had breakfast at Kisiwa House, but that was also wonderful) and the staff were lovely. Our only disappointment is that the Z suite was not available for the nights we had booked.

Booking via Zanzibar Retreats was also seamless and you were most helpful in sorting everything for us. In particular, I liked the detailed personal itinerary with descriptions of our bookings. Thank you for your role in organising things for us and please pass on our compliments to both Kisiwa and Z management and staff.

Anna of Zanzibar was a true heaven for us. It was the perfect destination for our honeymoon! We are very greatful for your recommendation of this fabulous place.
We had quite a adventurous safari in Tanzania (broken-down jeep, storm in which our tent collapsed on our heads, cancelled flight to Zanzibar,...), so Anna was a fantastic place for a worry-free week. Niccy is like an angel in her little paradise, and she and her staff really spoiled us. We had also not the idea that we were staying in a hotel. It is more like a guesthouse of friends, but with the luxury and style of a 5-star plus hotel. If possible, we will definitely go back to Anna of Zanzibar, it was perfect!

Also, nothing than good words for Zanzibar Retreats, everything went very well, from information to payment to practical issues, it was all very smoothly arranged! Thank you very much for this great experience, we will not hesitate to recommend Zanzibar Retreats, and Anna of Zanzibar to all of our friends and family!

Our stay at the Z Hotel in Zanzibar was absolutely stunning!! The room was fantastic and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only bit of dissapointment was the food. It did not meet our expectations and was sometimes overcooked and salty.

We had a great time indeed. Definitely satisfied about the communication with Zanzibar Retreats, and the service at
Azanzi - good rooms, nice infrastructure and friendly staff. The only point where we were maybe not 100% satisfied is the food, but not that we want to be complaining about that. Maybe some more variation on the menu would be good.

One of the reasons for choosing Azanzi was the diving possibilities. We are very satisfied about that as well. One Ocean is well organized, again good service and friendly staff.

We had the most fantastic time! Kilindi is truly a glorious place, from the amazing accommodation and personal care to the food and the ambience. Maike and Alan (the managers) were fabulous as well. We had a wonderful time. Kisiwa House was great – perfect location, lovely spacious room and very friendly and helpful staff. Chumbe Island was also fantastic – we called it paradise. Four nights was the perfect amount of time. Great food, lovely staff and the snorkling was very good. It was the perfect way to end our holiday and come home feeling very relaxed.
Overall we found everything great!

The booking process was straight forward and the website for arranging bookings is easy to use.

The Mashariki Palance Hotel was, to put it simply, one of the most elegant and charming places my wife and I have stayed. It is of course well located (close to the gardens and in the heart of Stone Town) and has awesome views from the restaurant and our room as it turned out. But it's the whole experience of the place that impresses. The attention to detail in design and decor, perfectly blending a clean modern feel with all kinds of period accents including Mahogany furnishings that contrast the lighter shades elsewhere can be felt everywhere from the rooms, to the many common spaces, to the renovation itself and it makes the hotel a sheer pleasure to spend time in. The staff was excellent. And the manager, Peter, and his team were attentive and great to deal with.

Kisiwa House was excellent – nice and comfortable accommodation in a good location that helped to make Stone Town an excellent experience!

Azanzi – also very nice. Comfortable, good hosts, the food was good, sometimes not fantastic, but in general really good. We basically did a lot of diving (which was really excellent and easy due to the One Ocean outlet there). Also did the spice tour, which I can highly recommend. I went fishing with some local fishermen as recommended by the hotel (USD 175 for half a day) and came back with the photo attached (see photo on right) – it was a 3 hour and 10 minutes fight!

I am happy to tell you that we had a fabulous time in Zanzibar and although it was a very short stay, we were able to relax and get a break from busy Dar es Salaam. The Baraza Resort and Spa is a truly wonderful place. The accommodation is absolutely flawless and very comfortable. The staff was very professional and extremely accommodating especially with regards to our baby's needs. We would definitely be interested in going back there again for a longer period of time.

I was very happy with your website Zanzibar Retreats as it really gave me the opportunity to see what Zanzibar has to offer in terms of luxury accommodation and I was very impressed with the entire layout and user-friendly set up of it. I also enjoyed checking out the special packages section of each resort and I am sure I will be referring friends and family to it when they visit Tanzania next.

Everything at Breezes was fantastic, we were lucky in that our stay was just before the rainy season really started, so we had a great time. Breezes was awesome, we really enjoyed it and would certainly go back there again. We both needed the break and it was perfect for relaxation. They also pay so much attention to detail and the staff are so friendly and consistently deliver at a high level. I won’t even start on the food! There was so much of it! (and we were only on half board)

We had the most wonderful wedding and honeymoon! Thank you so much for helping us with the organising!!

The Z Hotel was great! Staff super friendly, Rooms could have been cleaner. Mould growing in some of the showers. Food was not great, except for the sea food BBQ! That was AMAZING!!!!! But all in all was DIVINE!

Breezes was a very chilled, gorgeous resort! The food was Divine! But there was absolutely no other night life. No bar to go have a few drinks in after dinner, so it lacked atmosphere. Was good to come here and unwind tho. Rooms are gorgeous! Staff also super friendly. We had the best massages i have ever had! And iv had them all over the world!!!!!!

Now, Matemwe Retreat, WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Beyond our expectations! The pic with us in the pool is our private pool on our roof! Food was Divine, service amazing! View out of this world! 2 nights was not enough tho.

Beyt al Chai......mmmmmmm, well, not too sure how much it cost a night but was average. We did however have the best seafood we had on the island in their restaurant!

All in All was the best holiday either of us have ever had!

We had a wonderful time in Zanzibar. We loved every minute of it (bar the bugs haha). Our experience with booking with your company went very smoothly. You were very helpful when we were trying to decide which resort would be best suited for us. You answered all emails very quickly, which was great, as not every company we dealt with were as good. Some never even answered at all. You made it all very easy for us.

Matemwe Retreat was a little piece of heaven. Our butler Martin was fantastic and the food was gorgeous. The accomodation was huge and the view was amazing. The only thing we would recommend would be a little more entertainment or activities. All staff were very friendly and the company used for the transfers were really professional and very helpful. We even used them for a tour of Stonetown and they were very good and even stayed with us till we were checked in at the airport as we did the tour on the way to the airport.

We only have good things to say about Zanzibar Retreats, the prompt and efficient replies to email and queries were wonderful - and we would love to use you again sometime.

Anna of Zanzibar was a little piece of heaven. Michael and his staff were charming, attentive and made us feel so relaxed. They had a special honeymoon evening for us where we had a fantastic meal served in their 'love shack' which they decorated specially for us, right on the beach. I have already recommended Anna to some German friends of mine who will travel there later in the year. We had a look at a few other places near Anna on the East coast of the Island and they were not as intimate or well maintained.

Our stay at Kilindi was AMAZING from beginning to end. We had a great time. Service was top level. All staff, with no exception, were professional, friendly, so polite and very sweet. Our suite was gorgeous. Was so hard to leave!!! It was worth every penny.

As for the booking through Zanzibar Retreats, it went very smooth. Thanks to you and your colleagues. Thanks again for assisting us with the booking and with making our trip unforgettable. Please do extend our thanks to all the members of Kilindi family as well.

Kilindi really is a hidden gem... It was less than half full the whole time we were there, and it should be much more popular than that. I would be pushing it hard as one of your preferred properties as it really is a great place. The villas are excellent - so spacious and simple, yet luxurious. Fantastic privacy too. The daily use of a butler is awesome, and they are very helpful indeed. Certainly, our one, Edgar, was very professional and courteous. The food was generally very good quality, the spa treatments as well.

We were very happy with booking through Zanzibar Retreats and would not hesitate to recommend you, and Kilindi, to friends.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Our whole trip worked like clockwork .Thank you for making all the arrangements. You made my holiday planning seamless!

Breezes is an incredible resort. The staff are warm and friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food is also really good. Every night they have a different theme for dinner and they decorate the restaurant accordingly. Importantly for me, they always had vegetarian options at mealtimes. What was also very good was that right from the time that we were fetched from the airport and until we went through passport control on the way home, the hotel had someone looking after us which was very comforting.

We had a great time at Beyt Al Chai, and had an excellent coconut crab soup in their restaurant. The noise of Stone Town in the morning can be a factor if folks are going that area just to relax, but it was fine for us. Matemwe Retreat, however, was fantastic for relaxation. If there is a better spot for a romantic weekend, I don't know where it would be. Having a butler really helped us focus on relaxing as well. That property is really special, primarily because of the staff.

Dear Richard, thank you for the organisation of our trip to Zanzibar. The whole trip went exactly according to schedule, we were picked up and dropped off as planned and all accommodation (Serena Inn and Matemwe Retreat) was seamless... We also appreciated the quality of the cars, the 'looking after us' to ensure we navigated Zanzibar check in without the help of spruikers.
